Do What You “Hate” First

Do you struggle with procrastination and find it hard to do tasks that you don’t enjoy? If so, you’re not alone. Many people face this challenge, including myself. I used to write every day when I started my blog, but at some point, I began to feel resistant to writing. However, I’ve learned that to achieve success, we need to do things that we don’t necessarily enjoy doing, and do them first.

When I force myself to start writing, I begin to feel motivated and gain momentum. Waiting to feel motivated before starting a task is a mistake. Motivation comes from taking action, even if it’s just a small step like tidying up a corner of your room or doing a few exercises at the gym.

By doing what I hate first, I leave it behind and feel like a winner. Otherwise, I’d constantly feel like I have something else that I don’t want to do. So, I choose to do what I hate first, and then I feel good about myself and have a sense of accomplishment throughout the day.

Successful people have this same habit of doing what they hate first. They don’t procrastinate and give up on their dreams. If you want to achieve success, make a list of things you’re resistant to doing but will help you get there. It could be waking up early and going to the gym, making healthy meals, or asking for a higher salary that you deserve.

Remember to be careful with the words you use when communicating with yourself. Use positive language like “I CHOOSE to do” rather than “I have to do.” It’ll help your assistant ego support you better instead of resisting the task.

Don’t delay doing what you hate by saying, “I’ll do it after this and that.” It’ll never work. There will always be something that comes up and distracts you from the task at hand. Choose to be successful by doing what you hate first.

I hate writing, but I’m doing it right now before my breakfast and before any other enjoyable tasks because I want to be successful and inspire others through my writing. I know that you also have things you don’t want to do, but I hope you’ll choose to be successful by doing them first. See you in the next article.
